Castellón close out squad with Kastaneer signing
The Curacaoan winger, who arrives on a free transfer, played for Dick Schreuder's former team PEC Zwolle last year.
There was one spot left to fill in the Castellón squad, and today the club announced the signing of Gervane Kastaneer to occupy it. The Dutch/Curaçaoan winger, who turned 27 in June, becomes Castellón’s third signing from PEC Zwolle, after Haris Medunjanin and Daijiro Chirino.
Kastaneer, who was out of contract, has penned a one-year deal at Castalia, having played extensively in the Eredivisie for NAC Breda and ADO Den Haag, as well as in England for Coventry and in Scotland for Hearts. He has also made nine international appearances for Curaçao, scoring one goal.
The ex-PEC Zwolle man describes himself as someone who is “strong, with a good dribble, and can give assists”. “I love to attack first and foremost, I’m a player you want to see, I’m not afraid to challenge,” he added.
Having been without a club over the summer, it looks like it will take a few weeks for Kastaneer to get back up to speed, but he is clearly someone who is ready to be in the starting XI if needed and will add even more physical presence to the Castellón attack.
Welcome to Castellón, Gervane!
