Dutch defender Jozhua Vertrouwd joins Castellón
The 19-year-old, who can play both at left-back and centre back, signs from Utrecht on a free transfer.
It's Joshua with a Z for Castellón, as the club confirmed the signing of young defender Jozhua Vertrouwd from Utrecht on Monday. Vertrouwd becomes the club's ninth summer signing, and although he arrives on a free, Utrecht will retain a percentage of any future sale. The Dutchman will take up the last U23 spot, leaving space for one more potential senior signing.
Vertrouwd played 14 times last season for Jong Utrecht in the Dutch second division, including 90 minutes against PEC Zwolle, Dick Schreuder's former team. He will provide support in the areas Castellón needs most (CB and LB), and his ability to get forward on the left will also be very appealing to Schreuder in his system with two attacking wing-backs.
Vertrouwd could be in the squad as early as Castellón's next game, which is a visit to UD Melilla.
